The Rules are Simple!

        1. We will announce the theme.
        2. You will write a post or take a pic, post it to the social media account of your choice with the hashtag #mommyreality and then link it up to this blog post!
        3. Then in two weeks, we will announce our favorites and award a meme to the winner. The winner can then co-host the next challenge with us!

Just a little background on how our challenges are selected- Jen and Celeste take turns writing the post and creating the winning meme from the last challenge.

This week it’s Jen’s turn! Beware, there could be some shenanigans a foot…

For the last challenge Celeste asked us to share what we would do with one extra hour a day.We saw pictures and posts about books, cups of tea, blogging aspirations and more. Each entry was something that is longingly waited for when that coveted and magical occurrence of “extra” time can happen.

The Winner For Mommy Reality #34 If I Had One More Hour challenge is…

Julie from Julie’s Lifestyle Blog!

Julie submitted a picture of the kitchen cupboard that she would like to reorganize if only she could find the time.

Julie we hope you enjoy your meme and that you can join us in 2 weeks as a Co-host for the next Mommy Reality challenge!

The runner up for this challenge is Rachel of the Kenyan-Texan Family Blog for the picture she submitted via Instagram of how an “introvert” would spend an extra hour.

Make sure to check out all of the previous Mommy Reality memes on our tumblr page!

Thank you to all of the participants of this challenge and special thanks to our fabulous Co-host Debbie from Deb’s Random Writings who did an awesome job!

Now It’s Time For A NEW Challenge!

Mommy Reality 35’s theme is…. Your Nemesis!

Recently Jen was watching an episode of one of her favorite TV shows, Arrow. In this particular episode Jen’s favorite character and the Arrow’s love interest, Felicity Smoak is stymied by another computer hacker.  “She’s like my nemesis.  I’ve never had a nemesis!” Since this is a show about DC superheroes, this particular nemesis not only had expert hacking skills, but could control killer robot bees. The struggle is real people!

This made Jen think, ALL superheros seem to have a nemesis with whom they are locked in a never ending deadly battle to determine the fate of humanity.

"/

Even Dr. Doofenshmirtz from the cartoon Phineas and Ferb has a nemesis….

Since clearly having a nemesis is a thing now, Jen began to wonder if she had a nemesis, who or what would it be?

Then she realized she did indeed have one!

Spring in southern Arizona where she lives is a very short stopover on the way towards full blown summer heat, but spring does have its peculiarities.

Namely this.

This is the Sonoran Palo Verde, the Parkinsonia aculeata, or as locals like to refer to it, “Yellow Death.” The blooming buds look a lot like buttered popcorn would look like if it grew on trees. It can be pleasant to look at, on film, from 100 miles away. Because, there is nothing more hazardous and noxious to a person with allergies than these buds. These jaundiced spores of doom drop on the ground in snowdrift like quantities, consequently dropping people to the ground wheezing like a plot from a two-bit super-villain with a secret weapon.  The buds are probably laced with Kryptonite as well.  During this time of year even those who don’t really have allergies, have allergies, and sniffling lines of bleary eyed victims form around local drug stores looking for relief. This is truly a worthy nemesis, one which has consistently driven Jen and her family to the very edge of stuffed sinus madness.

Well played…. tree. Well played.

Now It’s your turn to share!
