Monster Rice Krispie Treats

In Cooking & Crafting, Motherhood, Parenting by Jen

During the month of October I like to create some not so spooky fun for my family. The simple projects seem to reap the most rewards, and today I would like to share a new family favorite I think you are really going to like; but first I have a little joke for you….

Why did the monster knit herself three socks?

Because she grew another foot!

OK, I know that was bad, but it was a good bad right?! So how about we talk about another kind of monster? Take a look!

These seriously are the easiest to make and even your littlest ghouls and goblins can get in on the cooking fun. My 4 year old had so much fun arranging the eyeballs on these monster treats. I think she did a pretty good job.

Since you are creating monsters, you could probably choose to make your monsters any color you wanted. I thought orange would be nice, but my little helper opted for purple and green. So, that is what we went with.

Before we go on, I kind of feel like you need to hear another joke. It’s really good I promise…..

Knock, Knock!
Who’s there?
Emma.
Emma who?
Emma going to get any Halloween candy?!

Alright, so no more jokes. How about we get back to making monster treats?! I picked up all of my ingredients at my neighborhood dollar and craft store. Here is a roundup of everything you will need.

I purchased the long, pre-made Rice Krispie bars, because they can be cut into 3 pieces each bar.

Follow the instructions on the chocolate candy melts package. I do one color at a time to ensure the chocolate doesn’t harden. To apply the chocolate you can either dip the top half of the treat or I personally prefer to use a small spoon and spread the chocolate on the top part of the treat. That way I can control the dripping.

Next lay the chocolate dipped Rice Krispie on wax paper to dry. Apply the eye balls before the chocolate dries and hardens.
