In Mommy Reality by Jen

Welcome to week #28 of the Mommy Reality Challenge!

retro-mommyreality

If this is your first time hearing about the Mommy Reality Challenge we are so glad you are joining this great community of moms who participate in our bi-weekly challenges that showcase all the fun, crazy, and sometimes overwhelming moments that are in every mom’s life!

Please don’t just read. This is an INTERACTIVE post! Come join in all the fun!

The Rules are Simple!

  1. We will announce the theme.
  2. You will take a pic, post it to the social media account of your choice with the hashtag #mommyreality or write a post and then link it up to this blog post!
  3. Then in two weeks, we will announce our favorites and award a meme to the winner. The winner can then co-host the next challenge with us!

So, just a little background on how our challenges are selected- Jen and Celeste take turns writing the post and creating the winning meme from the last challenge.

This time it’s Celeste’s turn to write the post!

WOOT!

mom fail

So, for our last challenge, Jen took us back to Mommy Reality basics and put a call to action for all of us to share our down and dirty Pinterest-y imperfect Mommy Lives. We witnessed naughty kids and messy houses— y’know, the kind of stuff that brings us all together in the #MommyReality community because it reminds us that we’re not alone with our imperfections!

The winner of Mommy Reality #27 The Gritty Reboot is ……

Rabia from The Liebers!

Rabia put together a hilarious post showing how she tricks her mom into thinking her room is clean by photographing her ultra-clean desk.

Then she zooms out and shows us the reality of the situation. Just take a look! The photos speak for themselves!

Congratulations, Rabia! We hope you’ll join us as our next Mommy Reality Co-host in 2 weeks!

You can check out our other Mommy Reality memes on out tumblr page.

Our runner-up goes to Deb from Deb’s Random Writings who has taken to drying her laundry on her sofa!

Debs random WritingsThanks so much to everybody who participated! And thank you once again to our fabulous co-host: Marie from Normal Everyday Life.

Now it’s time for a NEW Challenge!

REFRIGERATOR DOOR

Hey, it’s me, Celeste. Remember, I’m writing the post this week. You’ll have to excuse my lack of creativity. I usually like to do a cutesy-wootsy play-on-words title for the theme, but this winter has just made me plumb brain-dead tired and I’m coming up with NUTHIN cutesy-wootsy to satisfy my creative side. So this is what we get this week: Refrigerator Door.

Or maybe I can do this:

FREAKING REFRIGERATOR DOOR

Is that okay?

The point is, I want to see what’s on your ‘fridge. Please don’t clear it off and try to make yourself look like “Mom of the Year” by putting your children’s very BEST drawings on there or wiping off their finger smudges or taking bills or receipts off. We want to see it all!

Here’s mine:

Leapfrog and Lipgloss RefrigeratorWe have some usual “proud mommy” moments: A math certificate from my oldest daughter (which, omg, I was a terrible mother and ripped off the bottom to use as scratch paper to give my phone number to one of my daughter’s friends parents when I was in a rush!), an essay about Christmas from my other daughter, and… okay, well, this isn’t common… A clipping of a pic of Andie MacDowell and 70 of her look-a-likes.

Andie MacDowellFor some reason, my husband has always loathed actress/model Andie MacDowell. He can’t explain why, either. There is just something about her that gets under his skin and irritates him to no end. He can’t watch any movie with her in it, any commercial… -nothin. He will even audibly cringe, “Ughhghhh!!” if she comes on TV.

So, naturally when I saw this pic of Andie MacDowell and 70 of her look-a-likes in Us Weekly Magazine, I had to stick it on the ‘fridge.

This was about 5 months ago, and guess what? He’s dropped 20 pounds! He says it’s due to healthier eating habits, but I know better and think it’s because he’s actually afraid to go near the fridge and eat.

So on the fridge she stays, heh heh!
