This football season has officially brought the controversy. At least to our family. The high school that my newly minted freshman daughter attends is bitter rivals with my Alma Mater, where her cousin currently attends. To add to the drama, my nephew coaches at yet another school on the schedule. I guess the good news is that there is always a team we can cheer for!
This Friday night is Homecoming for many of the schools in our hometown and so it is going to be a very busy night! The kind of night that needs just a little advance prep work in order to make sure things run smoothly for the family.
It is still pretty hot around here, so choosing a refreshing way to stay hydrated is a must!
POWERADE for the sideline and Coca-Cola in the stands are always winners around here!
And of course, since getting the family ready for the game is important, we favor the combination of tasty and easy for dinner. So today I would like to share with all of you my go-to busy game night dinner recipe. People will think you spent hours, because it tastes that good. The fact that it can be pulled together in minutes can be OUR secret.
A delicious and easy crockpot dinner that takes only a few minutes to prepare.
Ingredients
- 4 to 5 skinless, boneless chicken breasts (can be frozen)
- 1 jar of your favorite salsa
- *Optional: 3 to 4 tablespoons sour cream
- Tortillas
Instructions
- Place frozen chicken breasts in crockpot.
- Cover chicken with salsa.
- Cook on high for 4 to 5 hours or on low for 8 hours.
- Once the chicken is soft, shred with a fork.
- Add in sour cream and let set on low for an additional 30 minutes. This can be an optional step.
- Serve with fresh tortillas. Enjoy!
In a very efficient example of one stop shopping, I grabbed all of my ingredients for this dinner and the beverages at my local Walmart. Talk about a winning plan before the game has even started, right?
So whether you are celebrating at home or cheering on your own athlete from the sideline, hopefully the ideas I shared here today will help you pull together your own game plan!
