Most of my readers here at JENerally Informed are women and that’s just fine by me, because I get women, since I am one and all… Anyways, I think it is pretty safe to say that we women stress BIG time during the holidays! With songs like “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” looping every stinking place we go, I think a lot us start feeling pressure to deliver tradition like the strokes of a Norman Rockwell painting. It’s a lot.
I think though that sometimes it is the most simple of things, that in their uncomplicated-ness (yes Virginia that IS a word around here) which end up bringing the most magic to ourselves and those we love. Because the most important things in life, really aren’t things. They never are.
So today, I wanted to share a recipe with you that, in it’s simplicity, I hope will help you to enjoy more of the fun and special moments of the Holiday season. Because who wants to be cooped up in the kitchen the whole time that everyone else is having fun? Not I and I am guessing you feel the same way.
Now check out how beautiful this recipe looks, and the best part is that you will spend hardly any time in the kitchen making it! It’s the perfect Holiday brunch recipe. I promise.
I always know something is a hit around here when there are no leftovers. Because in general, leftovers mean that something did not go over well with my family, But not this recipe! Even the toddler cleaned her plate. Outside of French fries and ice cream that rarely happens.
Of course, this recipe is only as good as it’s ingredients, so make sure to use Minute Maid Orange Juice.
I picked mine up at Albertsons.
So are you ready to see the recipe? I hope so! This one is super easy to make. First gather the following ingredients:
- 7 eggs
- 1/2 cup Minute Maid Orange Juice
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh, grated orange peel
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 8 slices of bread
- Cooking Spray
- Powdered sugar (Optional)
Mix the eggs, orange juice, milk, sugar, orange peel, vanilla and nutmeg.
Place bread in a single layer in a well oiled 13 x 9 pan. You might need 2 pans. Then pour the egg mixture over the bread and let it soak, turning once until liquid is absorbed. This should take about 5 minutes.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes then turn the slices. Continue baking 10 to 12 minutes, until browned. Dust with powdered sugar if desired, serve and enjoy!
Here is a printable recipe card as well!

The campaign is focused on helping to remind parents of all the wonderful things – big and small – you do to make a positive difference in your children’s lives every day. It’s a celebration of perfect imperfection for moms and dads everywhere who are, in reality, doing much better than they think. Because you are.
Thanks for stopping in and Happy Holiday-ing!
Love,
Jen
