My 7-year-old daughter is addicted to the Netflix show Nailed It. It is her happy place to sit coloring and crafting and watch other people try to cook, and mostly fail. With her new addiction has also come a renewed interest in all things baking. This week she told me that we needed to create a, “really special something.” And you all know, that my most special somethings are donuts. So today I am excited to introduce you to something never before seen anywhere (believe me we looked)….. Grinch Lemon Donuts!
These really, really were easy to make, but you do need a donut pan. This is the one I use. Now let’s talk about what else you will need.
Donut Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 6 oz of sour cream
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 to 4 tbs lemon extract- Here is a little trick. Taste the batter as you add the lemon extract and get it to the flavoring you like. I like a lot of lemon-flavor!
Donut Topping Ingredients
- 1 bag Wilton Vibrant Green Candy Melts
- 1 container small red candy hearts

Pre-heat oven to 350.

In bowl, add all dry ingredients and stir to combine.

Add wet ingredients and stir everything until just combined.

Spray your donut pan with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.

Spoon your batter into wells of the donut pan.

Place in oven and cook for about 10 minutes or until donuts spring back when touched.

Remove from oven and let cool in pan for a few minutes before carefully moving to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once the donuts are cool melt about 2 cups of the candy melts in a microwave safe bowl for about minute.
- Mix the candy melts with a spoon thoroughly to ensure that the melt consistency is ready to drizzle on your donuts.
- Drizzle chocolate candy melt mixture on top of donuts.
- Before the melted chocolate sets place a single red candy heart on the bottom right corner of the donut.
- Enjoy!
