The Easter season means it’s time for ALL of the different flavors of Peeps to come rolling out. Last week on a quick perusal at my local grocery store I was amused to find that you can now even grab Peeps in pancake and syrup flavor! Whoa!
Whether or not you are a fan of these fluffy little balls of marshmallow sweetness, you have got to give them credit for their longevity as a product that has now almost become synonymous with Spring itself! And because I am who I am, I went and created a little treat that can lure almost anyone in. Because if you don’t like Peeps, then you will love the recipe for these “dough-lightful” little powdered donuts I am going to share. And if you don’t like either of these things, then we can’t be friends.
Just kidding. Kind of…….
Aren’t they cute?! I will be pulling these together again to serve for an Easter brunch treat. I kind of see it as a perfect dessert for all of those who are young or just young at heart. Or also perhaps those who still enjoy the sugar buzz something like this would create upon consumption. It’s a good buzz though, so go ahead and raise your hand Karen.
You could purchase the powdered donut holes if you are in a bit of a time crunch or you could use a donut maker to make them. I use this one. It is pretty old, but still works like a champ. Here is a link to a similar one with good reviews on Amazon.
Here is what you need to make the powdered donut holes:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 4 Tbsp cooking oil
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Here is how to make them:
Stir dry ingredients, then add the egg, milk, and vanilla.
Beat 1 minute.
Add oil, beat 1 minute more.
Don’t overbeat.
Cook according to donut machine instructions.
Sprinkle the donut holes with powdered sugar and enjoy!
Assembly of the Kabobs is pretty easy. You can follow the pattern I show here or you can go your own way. The world is your Peep Donut Kabob “oyster” when making these!
Because I love all of you here is a an easy to grab printable copy of all of this deliciousness!
