My husband and I have really made a concerted effort over the last 6 months to be thoughtful and intentional with our food. This has included making sure we offer healthy and delicious meals and snacks to and for our family. Don’t get me wrong, donuts still happen. We are just trying to teach through example that our children have control over their food choices and that they can use food as fuel and not as a “filler”.
One of my children was requesting an Orange Julius type smoothie recently and when I went looking online there was an awful lot of sugar put into a traditional Orange Julius, and so I decided to work on creating my own recipe. Especially since in the Spring, we have a plethora of fresh oranges we can pick right off of our trees in the backyard!
Today I am excited to share my own Healthy Orange Julius Copycat Recipe!
Do you guys remember grabbing Orange Julius’s at the mall? Geesh, it’s been forever since I visited a mall? Maybe someday I will get back there!
Here is what you will need to make this: It makes about 4 cups worth
About 7 medium oranges
2 tablespoons Swerve or another sugar substitute
1 to 1 and 1 1/2 cups almond milk
2 teaspoons vanilla or honey
6 to 7 cubes of ice
