Happy Mid-January friends! I know that some people might think setting up Valentine’s Day accoutrements in stores the day after Christmas seems a little premature, but I have to admit to being someone who finds immense pleasure in seeing those shiny red foil hearts and pink bursting blossoms on store shelves. I also think that all holiday celebrations are less than complete without a little something sweet to celebrate. Something sweet like this Red Velvet Quick Shake that takes just a few minutes to pull together!
I love to share recipes like this here for my fellow parents, who like me have little to no extra time, but still want to make special things to share with their families. Because seriously this shake is so easy to make! You guys just aren’t going to believe it.
Here’s the back story on how this Valentine’s Day concoction came to be. My kids have been begging for all things ice cream this month. What gives, because it’s the middle of the winter?? Plus it has been cold here for southern AZ, and so once I am home and all wrapped up in my flannel best, I am not leaving the house for anything. Last night in an ultimate moment of pure genius, when the kids started begging for shakes and ice cream, I whipped out this deliciousness, and it was gloriously silent for several long moments while they enjoyed and sipped their shakes.
Here is what you need to make your own Red Velvet Quick Shake:
Ingredients:
Keep in mind this can be doubled and even tripled for large families like mine.
2 to 3 cups vanilla ice cream
1 to 2 cups milk
2 teaspoons red velvet cake mix- Seriously just buy a box and spoon that stuff in. You can make cupcakes with the leftovers or just store away to make more shakes.
A handy dandy blender
Ingredients
- 2 to 3 cups vanilla ice cream
- 1 to 2 cups milk
- 2 teaspoons red velvet cake mix- Seriously just buy a box of red velvet cake mix and spoon that stuff in. You can make cupcakes with the leftover mix or just store away to make more shakes.
Instructions
- Blend Quick Shake ingredients together and enjoy!
- To make a sprinkle rim on any glass: Melt about 5 to 6 white chocolate candy melts in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Give it a good mix with a spoon when it comes out of the microwave. Dip the top of the cup rim in the melted chocolate and then quickly dip the now chocolate rimmed cup in a small bowl of sprinkles until the rim is covered.
I hope you enjoyed this recipe my friends and hopefully, it also helps to keep you “warm”, since now you won’t need to leave the house for that sweet treat your kids keep begging for!
Love,

Wow, that is easy! I had no idea. We do have those ingredients around, because Scarlet loves to bake with red velvet cake mix, and who doesn’t have milk and ice cream?
I’m with you – I get intense pleasure from seeing red and pink hearts at the store!
I know right?! Super easy! Scarlet sounds like my kind of baker :)

Oh my gosh, I’ve been craving ice cream this month, too! Even though it’s so cold in Michigan! My kids love red velvet cake flavor and the fact that you just throw the mix in–genius.
