This Holiday season our family has already attended double the parties we did last year. It has been fun, and since I am not one to endlessly slave or obsess over my food creations, I have been whipping up some super easy and delicious recipes that have been very well received. Today I am excited to share one of my creations with you for a delicious appetizer. Let me introduce you to Hot Crab Crostini!
As a little girl I remember being served crab for the first time. I thought it was fancy, and to this day I love adding crab into holiday entertaining. It is a simple way to add a little pizazz and fun into any occasion. And for as long as I can remember our family’s go to crab has been Louis Kemp® Crab Delights® Flake Style.
Crab Delights is one of those foods I enjoy serving because it’s gluten free, a good source of protein, and is naturally low in calories and cholesterol. Plus Crab Delights are made with premium Wild Alaskan Pollock fillets. The most abundant certified sustainable fish species. All of that is winning in my book!
So are you ready to learn how to make this?
I hope so, because you are going to love it! First let’s talk ingredients. You will need the following ingredients: A French loaf baguette, olive oil, 1 8 oz. pouch Crab Delights Flake style, (2 ounces) diced pimientos well drained, 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese, 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1/4 cup chive and onion cream cheese spread, 1 tsp chipotle or red pepper, 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives.
Heat oven to 400°. Place bread slices on a large ungreased cookie sheet. Brush tops lightly with oil. Bake 3 to 5 minutes or until crisp and very light brown. Meanwhile, mix remaining ingredients except chives in medium bowl. Spread 1 rounded table-spoonful crab mixture on each bread slice.
Now you are ready to bake! Bake for about 5 minutes or until filling is hot and cheese is melted. Once your crostini is baked, garnish by sprinkling with fresh chopped chives.

I’ve always been a bit of a snob about imitation crab, but now I’m educated about the sustainable, abundant Pollock. These look yummy!

Hi Jen, it’s funny how we associate certain things with being posh. Crab and crab sticks are that food for me too, even if they don’t contain crab. You’d be welcome at our house anytime with a tray of these or doughnuts!

Ah, that looks good! Nothing not to love. And I had no idea what “imitation crab” could mean. I love this!
