Welcome to Mommy Reality Challenge 36!!!
Hosted by Jen from JENerally Informed and Celeste from Leapfrog and Lipgloss!
I know!!!! So freaking exciting.
If this is your first time hearing about the Mommy Reality Challenge we are so glad you are joining this great community of moms who participate in our bi-weekly challenges that showcase all the fun, crazy, and sometimes overwhelming moments that are in every mom’s life!
Please don’t just read. This is an INTERACTIVE post! Come join in all the fun!
The Rules are Simple!
- We will announce the theme.
- You will write a post or take a pic, post it to the social media account of your choice with the hashtag #mommyreality and then link it up to this blog post!
- Then in two weeks, we will announce our favorites and award a meme to the winner. The winner can then co-host the next challenge with us!
Just a little background on how our challenges are selected- Jen and Celeste take turns writing the post and creating the winning meme from the last challenge.
This week it’s Celeste’s turn, so hold on to your butts!
For the last challenge, Jen asked us to share who or what was our nemesis. Jen posted a pic of tree close to her house that was making her family’s allergies flair up, and I posted some ants that I couldn’t seem to get rid of. We also saw lots of other goodies such as food shopping and wall-to-wall carpeting in a houseful of boys.
But we could only choose one winner!
The winner of Mommy Reality Challenge 35: “Your Nemesis is…
Jessica from Breaking the Momma Mold!
Jessica tweeted out her frustrations the other day about the lack of Internet and how tedious it can be to install. Being a mom with kids underfoot pulling your brain 5 different ways when you’re trying to do something important–especially something so important that it connections you to the rest of the living civilization, we related and felt her pain!
Jessica, we hope you enjoy your meme and that your ‘net is up and running so you can join us as our Mommy Reality co-host in two weeks!
If you liked this, then make sure check out all of the other Mommy Reality memes on our tumblr page!
Our runner-up for the “Your Nemesis” challenge goes to… Rachel from A Kenyan-Texan Family who explained to us that her house in Kenya where she lives isn’t a sealed house. They keep the doors open to put a breeze through, and some of the windows don’t close completely. This creates a very buggy situation, so every 6 months they have to evacuate and totally get the house sprayed down. When they return, they find visions of this EVERYWHERE:
Okay, so in MY Mommy Reality submission, I (Celeste, who is writing this post) was complaining about the ants coming into my home which makes me feel like this about spring:
I have to say, if I had a bug situation like Rachel’s? I’d be feeling more like this:
Rachel, you have really put things into perspective for me!
Now It’s time for a NEW Mommy Reality Challenge and Co-host!

Now it’s time for a NEW Challenge!
Mommy Reality 36’s theme is…. Buried Alive!
Hey all, it’s Celeste again. As I mentioned last time I wrote the Mommy Reality post, I was completely stumped on what the theme topic should be, so I put a call into the wild (social media) and asked you all for help! I received so many good suggestions, that I decided to go with yet another one this week!
The theme I chose this week comes from “Jen’s Guy“: Take a pic of your kids buried in all the stuffed animals they own!
Thanks for the suggestion, “Jen’s Guy”! (“Jen’s Guy” is Jen’s husband, by the way… as in Jen, the other half of the Mommy Reality team.)
To kick things off- my kiddos:
Now It’s your turn to share!
We know you have heaps of stuffed animals that accumulated over the years no matter how hard you’ve tried to keep the collection at bay. Throw them on your kids and snap a pic!
You have 2 weeks to complete this challenge!
But DON’T Take 2 weeks, because we are on pins and needles here!
You can share the pic in a post or on your favorite social media outlet.
Don’t forget to grab our super-nifty button!
✔ *By submitting your pic, you are giving the Mommy Reality Team permission to use your photo to create a special silly meme for you if you win! :). If you win and you’re a blogger, you also have the opportunity to be our co-host!
✔ **The Mommy Reality team and our special co-host are VERY diligent in pinning, posting, and sharing the link-up participation every week, so make sure to follow us on our social media channels so you won’t miss out!
We encourage you to visit a couple other Mommy Reality participants in the link-up and leave meaningful comments! The best part of this link-up is that we’re a community of real moms with a sense of humor about ourselves!

Total irony on this one as my husband and I need to go through all the stuffed animals and such that our kids have. Seriously the amount is insane and could most certainly bury them alive and then some!!
Janine Huldie recently posted…Crazy, But All Girls Worry About Their Appearance
I think stuffed animals multiply overnight! Weeding through them is one of my least favorite jobs, because even the littlest broken old matted animal has sentimental value to my kids and CANNOT be thrown out!

Yay!!! Thank you Jen & Celeste!!! I am so excited. :) At least very good things came out of setting up that modem thing from hell. (Besides internet of course.) You guys are the best and I love these challenges! Looking forward to co-hosting. :) And if I haven’t added enough smiley faces.. here is one more for the road. :)
Awesome!!! Excited to have you co-hosting with us in a couple weeks! :))))))))))

Your picture was fantastic! Thanks for sharing your Mommy Reality with us. P.S. I am glad the internet in your house is up and working!
Jen recently posted…Mommy Reality #36:Buried Alive
Do the kids have to be visible in the picture?…because the stuffed animal situation is out of control at my house!!
Rabia @TheLiebers recently posted…My job Appreciates Me. My Bike? Not so Much!
Nope, just snap those pics wherever those animals may be stockpiled. I think I lost my children somewhere in our piles of them, maybe I should lure them out with cookies….
Jen recently posted…Mommy Reality #36:Buried Alive
Judging by Celeste’s humor, I think she missed her calling and should actually be a boy mom. Unicorns barfing rainbows and…well…Boys would love her.
April recently posted…Do you boast about the faithfulness of your friends?
I think you are right. My son about died this morning when he saw the pink gassy booty gif guy!! There is nothing better than a good old bodily function joke to boys :)

All the challenges have been fun, but I think this one will be extra fun.
Have a fabulous day and weekend. :)

Thanks Sandee, it just seems that those stuffed animals multiply by triplets each time you bring one in! Or is that just me? Nah, I don’t thinks so! Can’t wait to see the pictures!

Hey, we have that Toad too!
Love the GIF of the pooping flowers. Ha.

Hi Jen, thanks for the fun party and inviting me to be a co-host. Sorry I forgot to put in the link up the title. Hope you have a nice weekend.

No worries! I am so happy you are co-hosting with us and that Bosco picture is absolutely adorable!

I need to pull my external harddrive out to dig out all the images I’d submitted to http://www.stuffonmycat.com hahaha…
In other random and borderline creepy news, I totally dreamed that you hosted a Mom Blogger Convention and it was by the beach, and epic, and we drank virgin margaritas, and then I got hit on by some random Mexican dude.. I mean, full on ponchos and sombreros.
Aaaaaand, this is why I scare away all the peoples. lol. – http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com

Gingi you are a riot! I think your dream sounds marvelous. If we did have that conference we would need to have you bring some of your Cospaly outfits and then we could give those sombrero dudes a run for their money!
Hope you are having a great weekend!

Oh gosh, I can’t imagine having those bugs in my house! We get a lot where I live too though. *shudders*
I like this week’s challenge idea; cute photo!

I know bugs have a purpose, but spiders and centipedes are not high on my list. Well, and also snakes, lizards and anything that would crawl unwelcome into any place in my house! Yeah, I guess I really don’t like creepy, crawly things….

Oh the memes in this post slay me! LOL
Oh my goodness, I just said that the memes in this post “slay me”. I’m soooo old.
What a fun and cute challenge. I’m going to try to participate this time around. Those two weeks go by quickly!
Wishing you a lovely weekend!

I used “slay me” on my kids the other day and they looked at me like I had antennas growing out of my head!
I hope you do get a chance to jump in, because there are some fun pictures so far. I think this is going to be a great one!
Have a wonderful weekend :)
Jen recently posted…How To Share Funshine This Summer
It would take me two weeks to complete the challenge because that’s how long it would take to get unburied by the stuffed animals.
Ok that story about the bugs in the house in Kenya? Yeah. Makes me feel less upset about the ONE ant I saw in the bathroom today.
Tamara recently posted…Bloggers Blogging about Blogs.
I know those bugs are terrifying!! I saw a comedian once talking about roaches in New York. He said the first time he saw one he freaked out, now it doesn’t even bother him anymore. He said that he was in the shower and a roach was in there and he told the roach to keep to his side and as long as there was room for both of them, the roach could stay! I hope to never get to that point with bugs!
Jen recently posted…How To Share Funshine This Summer
No…just…no. I can’t imagine not having internet; or having to install it ourselves for the matter. Great pick for the last Mommy Reality challenge! I hesitate on this next challenge…that would mean actually letting the kids see just how many stuffed animals we have in our house! But…challenge accepted. Looking forward to seeing all the submissions!
Leslie recently posted…{Recipes} Cap’n Crunch French Toast
I know it really is scary! Because when we actually see how many we have in our house, as parents we will feel the need to clean some out and then the real fights will begin, no? I will just keep a bag close by and do some stuffed animal scooping when they are asleep at night. Good luck to both of us!

I love that internet meme! Oh my goodness, I hate anything to do with internet and have a mild panic attack when we for some reason are disconnected. And the ET image is awesome! Don’t forget “Labyrinth” when they show shots of Sarah’s room with all her crazy stuffed animals. And she’s supposed to be 16!
Nina recently posted…Craft Kit: Fun Lacing Activity for Preschoolers
I love that Labyrinth shot of the stuffed animals! My oldest and I watched that last summer and she was like why does she have so many stuffed animals as a teen? I am sure the actress got asked that same question a lot :)
Jen recently posted…How To Share Funshine This Summer
Hehe that unicorn picture. I saw a photo one time where a unicorn was shaving under its arms and that is supposedly how sprinkles are made. Baha ha!
And those bugs… no, just no.
Oh my gosh, that kind of puts a whole new perspective on rainbow sprinkles!!
Agreed on the bugs!

OMG the bugs or is that a snake being eaten alive…whhhat my mind is totally blown here.

I know Rachel’s pictures of bugs in Kenya, make me more grateful for the bugs I battle here!
Jen recently posted…Man-day Post: Goodnight Loon
Hi Jen, I’m still in talks (of a bribing nature) with my daughter about helping me out for this post. If she doesn’t agree I’m not sure if I’m big enough to be able to pin her down long enough to be able to take a picture…We will see!
xx

Oh that would be EPIC!! If she doesn’t work out, there is always a furry family member that could work in a pinch….
Jen recently posted…Man-day Post: Goodnight Loon
I’ve got the picture and have removed it from the camera before she can change her mind!! Now just got to write the post….Although I’m sure the furry friends curled up on a pile of teds would be cuter!
